 Once upon a time....

When the magical words “Once upon A Time” are uttered we know there is an exciting moral tale to be heard with the inevitable ending of "happily ever after". In Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s musical, Into the Woods, the creators dare to ask the startling question, what happens after happily ever after? Cinderella starts Into the Woods with the statement “I wish”. Every character wishes for something. But what happens once their wishes are granted? One must deal with the consequences of getting one’s wish, and what is more, deal with it as part of a society. We must all be responsible for our actions. Interwoven in this complex story is the parent/child relationship, the strength of unconditional love and the power of the human spirit. Thus is the basis for Stage Notes 2015 production, Into the Woods.

Through this new partnership with the Community Foundation, they will formalize their community grantmaking and also provide donors with the opportunity to make tax-deductible gifts to support their work and mission. “Stage Notes is committed to a long-term relationship of supporting the needs of our community. What better way to ensure performances with a purpose than to partner with the Northern New York Community Foundation? We respect their commitment of connecting donors who care with causes that matter,” said Michele Glover, Stage Notes board president.

Two funds will be established at the Community Foundation, one for grantmaking and one to help build a permanent endowment fund. “As a Community Foundation, we have all the systems in place to help organizations maximize their impact on the community, both through the important charitable work they do, but also by helping them build long-term capacity to continue to fulfill their missions. We are honored that a group so committed to giving back is now an official member of our family of partners,” said Rande Richardson, Community Foundation executive director.
